La Purisma Mission Lompoc California Real Wedding

Close your eyes and imagine what is was like to get married in the early 1800's. It was simple and unencumbered by the modern day hustle and bustle. A man and woman got together to pledge their love and devotion to each other. Yes, that was all. When Michelle and Jimmy tied the knot at La Purisma Mission in Lompoc, California, they were able to appreciate a wedding from yesteryear. The restored mission was founded in 1787 which allows visitors to experience life in the 1820's. Many of the buildings are original structures that have been restored and it is now a park comprising over 2000 acres. At one time, it was comprised of 470 square miles and was the home of the Chumash people and Spanish settlers. wedding bouquet california weddings california weddings bride walking down aisle california weddings california ceremony

The couple exchanged their vows in the chapel and they were definitely dressed for their venue.

The groom and his groomsmen wore simple suits. The men did not dress too fancy back then. Many of them only had one suit that they wore to church on Sunday and for special occasions.

Her lace dress was sleeveless. She had her hair in a ponytail to the side and simply wore drop earrings. She also wore a veil which was a must in weddings of yesteryear. Her bouquet was very rustic which fit with the the environment well. Her brides maids wore short dresses which blended in well with the atmosphere.

They continued the theme at the reception. Everyone was seated at a long table. This also fit with theme because it is more intimate. Weddings were the big social events of the year in yesteryear and one of the few times that families were able to relax.

Michelle and Jimmy really embraced the history and culture of their venue when they planned their wedding. If you are planning your wedding, consider your location when buying your dress and deciding on each aspect of your nuptials. You want your day to be cohesive and you want each element to tell a story. This is your day and you are in charge of the statement you want to make. Plan, plan and plan and you will have a wonderful day. But most of all, have fun.
