La Romana Wedding. Spanish for “country house,” Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic, was the perfect paradise wedding location for Mike and Kerry’s nuptials. Since 1979, the bride’s parents have owned a jewelry store in Casa de Campo and Kerry spent the first years of her life there. She’s visited every year since and even brought Mike along for the last few. When they started planning their wedding day, a truly authentic celebration in the Dominican Republic was undoubtedly their first choice.

Mike and Kerry met through mutual friends during their freshman year of college. Initially, they attended different universities but Kerry transferred the next year to the University of Wisconsin-Madison where Mike was studying. They remained friends for the next few years and it wasn't until midway through their senior year that Mike finally made his move. And the rest, as they say, is history.

The bride looked chic and comfortable for her tropical-inspired wedding. She wore a halter-style gown with an open back and a long veil to accessorize her simple updo. Her bridesmaids shined in light and airy blush-colored dresses.

Mike and Kerry agreed on a first look moment before the ceremony. Overlooking the water, the two grabbed hands and reveled at the sight of their beloved.

Mike looked smashing in a slim fit black tuxedo with a white tie, white pocket square, and petite anthurium boutonniere.

The couple, and their bridal party, took photos around Casa de Campo before the ceremony, pausing at popular spots such as the amphitheater, considered the "heartbeat of Altos de Chavón."

The intimate ceremony took place at the beautiful St. Stanislaus Church, which sits high on the bluffs overlooking the beautiful Chavón River.

Guests were greeted by lanterns placed on various steps, beckoning them into the historic stone church. Mike and Kerry said their vows in front of their loving group of friends and family and sealed their commitments with a kiss.

Their cheerful smiles were astounding as they exited the church, pausing for a kiss on the top step as they made their way out amid a flurry of sparklers.

The reception was held at La Romana Country Club. Many of Kerry and Mike’s guests had never visited the Dominican Republic so they wanted to immerse them in all things Dominican.

Native plants and flowers beaming with lush greens, white, and deep pink blooms were sprinkled throughout the reception for refreshing pops of color.

The decor, the food, and the live band were all authentically Dominican. And as the couple enjoyed their first dance and celebrated with their first toast, their guests soaked in the beauty of the country.

Mike and Kerry planned a destination wedding that was as sentimental and special as it was spectacular. Their attention to detail in incorporating the natural beauty of the Dominican Republic showed in every way, producing not just their wedding but a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all.
