Lake Tahoe Engagement.

The Proposal: K.C., Erika and Jordan (the most perfect Golden Retriever there ever was) set out to Torreya State Park for a weekend of hiking and camping for MLK weekend. They'd spent the whole previous night stuffing their packs full of camping gear, freeze-dried food, and coffee. Erika had booked a "primitive" campsite for the long weekend, and they were excited to get away for a bit. After hiking to the campsite that afternoon, they started a campfire and made some dinner. At dusk, they noticed the fire was getting low, so Erika offered to hike back up to the firewood hut to replenish their stash. Normally K.C. would NEVER have allowed her to do so, but after a brief pause he agreed to let her go. Erika said later that she should have see that as clue #1 for what was about to take place. When she arrived back at the campsite, there were tiny little tea light candles all over. K.C. presented her with a travel journal that he'd given to her for Christmas. It was a very beautiful leather-bound journal and he had promised her that he would write the first entry. As he handed it to her, Erika was thinking "Ohhh he finally  wrote in the journal!" The journal entry consisted of the kindest words Erika had ever read. He told her how much he loved her, and how he will always love her. He will always choose to love her and he will take care of her everyday. He can't wait to see the world with her, just like her grandparents did, and he can't wait to see what the next chapter holds. At this point, Erika was crying uncontrollably. (She told us she was, ugly crying). When she wiped the tears from her eyes, she looked up to see K.C. down on one knee with Grandma Lola's ring in his hand. She said yes, and they both cried. The entire time KC was proposing, that perfect Golden Retriever, Jordan, was trying to get their attention because he wanted to be petted.
