Michigan Wedding Inspiration - Cassandra Ferguson.
They say rain on your wedding day is good luck so it’s no surprise this styled shoot at the Grosse Point War Memorial in Michigan gives us all the good vibes. With classic Italian Renaissance architecture, a beautiful couple, and superb accents and décor, this stunning wedding style can make even the darkest clouds disappear.
The French-inspired event begins with a handwritten invitation suite teeming with blue and white tones.
The glamorous jewelry and accessories offer hints as to the bride’s elegant and sophisticated style.
Her lush, organic bouquet features anemones, garden roses and sweat peas tied with French blue and cream hand-dyed silk.
To pair with her statement beaded heels, the bride wears a lace, V-neck style fit-and-flare gown with layers of chiffon and a touch of sparkle.
She arrives with the groom, who is dressed in a navy tux and polka dot bow tie. They appear with a vintage 69-year old Packard car - built in Detroit in 1948 - as the perfect complement to the historic Grosse Pointe War Memorial. The car's grill is adorned with a fresh floral wreath and "Just Married" sign.
The library ceremony setting inside the mansion is incredibly intimate. And as the thunderstorm rolls in, it's made even cozier thanks to the fireplace and dim lighting.
The intricate lime wash motif chairs lines the aisle leading to the fireplace surrounded with candles. On the mantel is a variety of greenery and dark purple hanging amaranthus.
The tablescape is inspired by dining al fresco on a warm Michigan night with hints of French blue, cream, and natural wood. The centerpieces feature the tropical, understated colors of orchids, dahlias, ranunculus, garden roses, and mustard-colored celosia. Figs add a fresh element and tie together the tapered burgundy candles. Mixing the timeless colors, gold flatware and elegant calligraphy makes this a dynamic and divine tablescape.
As they enter the doors of the mansion, the bride and groom are greeted with a delicious Detroit cocktail.
To complete the wedding, a tiered marble cake and macaroons dusted in gold are placed on a 100-year old vintage wine barrel.
Letting her personality shine, the bride embraces the rain and allows the drops to soak her from head to toe.
And as the night falls and the rain moves out, the couple share one last intimate embrace beneath the shadows, where the only thing to light their way is a candle.
They say “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” This is sage advice for any bride planning her big day. While we can’t control the weather, we can control how we react to it. So, why not wear a smile and enjoy it – rain or shine? That's the most stylish element of the day.
