Oatlands Plantation Wedding
One look at the buttery yellow exterior of historic Oatlands Plantation in Virginia and it’s easy to see why Noel and Kevin chose it for their wedding day. The stately mansion, the private gardens and its nearly 415 acres are awe-inspiring. And it was the perfect location, teeming with Southern charm, that allowed these high school sweethearts to do things their own way.
Glittering peep-toe heels and a colorful bouquet were just the start of the bride’s unique wedding day look.
Guests received invitations outfitted with a gray and white design for a classic suite to accompany this much-anticipated celebration.
One thing about the bride – she loves flowers. And her floral designer seized the opportunity to incorporate luscious blooms in a most unique way. Not only were the floral arrangements colorful and hearty, but Noel donned a floral veil that was as lovely as the bride herself.
Her gown was a simple fit-and-flare V-neck that fit her exquisitely. And Noel’s bridesmaids donned mismatched gowns in an array of neutral colors.
Kevin and his groomsmen looked handsome in dark blue, completing their looks with brown shoes, gray ties and of course, Superman-themed socks – complete with capes!
For the ceremony, Noel arrived in a gorgeous vintage car in front of the mansion.
She was escorted down the aisle, her floral veil gracefully dancing in the breeze, to her awaiting groom.
Now in front of all of their friends and family, the two exchanged vows, rings and laughter as they were pronounced husband and wife.
And in their first photos as Mr. and Mrs., the two grabbed chic white balloons that said it all.
Because of all of the exquisite, tucked-away corners of the property, Noel and Kevin were able to capture many photos with different backdrops. From bridal group shots out on the lawn to secret photos within the gardens, they made sure to experience all the richness of Oatlands.
Their refreshing reception featured a clothesline escort card display, memorial table and a unique blend of rustic and romantic touches.
The glamorous tent, with its sparkling chandeliers, provided cover for natural wooden tables and colorful floral centerpieces scattered about the space.
Even their wedding cake was a floral vision thanks to three buttercream-covered tiers embellished with colorful blooms and blueberries.
Kevin and Noel even planned a private garden meal just for the two of them. Because sometimes, you just want to be with your beloved.
This couple planned a wedding day at Oatlands Plantation that was truly all about them. Forget the usual routines, traditions and logistics; Kevin and Noel incorporated moments that spoke to them. And it’s because of that that their memories will be much sweeter.
