Their Story: Mary and Phillip's wedding epitomizes Southern charm at its best. Set in the heart of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, this beautiful June affair was full of everything the city has to offer: history, energy, and beauty.

Mary looked ever the blushing bride. She wore an off-the-shoulder, A-line dress, made entirely of lace. As Southern girls often do, she wore a strand of pearls and paired it with pearl earrings. Her hair was styled in a lovely low updo and allowed her to wear a gorgeous Cathedral-length veil. And because she wanted to be comfortable on her wedding day, Mary opted for a practical pair of flats to walk down the aisle.

Phillip had no problem putting on his multi-colored bowtie. He paired it with a khaki-colored suit and interesting boutonniere made from a variety of small buds. His groomsmen also wore the same attire, making for a coordinated and stylish vision at the front of the altar.

Mary was escorted down the aisle at the lovely Hayes Barton United Methodist Church and met Phillip under a beautiful stained-glass window. After the vows and exchanging of rings, guests were invited to make their way to The Stockroom at 230 for a lively reception.

Meanwhile, Mary and Phillip took a few moments to capture the essence of downtown Raleigh. Because it's the capital of North Carolina, there is an abundance of interesting and rich architecture to shoot. The couple was able to utilize some of the more intriguing places to create wonderful backdrops for their photographs.

The reception was filled with two things Southern ladies adore: flowers and family. When guests arrived, they were greeted with a table teeming with old photos of the couple's family members. Also, along the reception tables and everywhere in between were heaping arrangements of flowers: roses, ferns and hydrangea in every shade.

The cake was simple and sweet. It was two round white tiers with simple detail around the layer. On top were two small lovebirds which read I do and Me too. Surrounding the cake were the beautiful bridesmaid bouquets, along with romantic votive candles.

Just because a celebration is held downtown doesn't mean it has to be busy or fussy. This event was soft and sweet and the epitome of a classic Southern wedding. Mary and Phillip made their day all about family, fun and forever.
