The Farm at Old Edwards Wedding - Highlands, NC.
One could say Laura and Robert had chemistry from the start. The pair met as freshmen at the University of Tennessee on their first day of chemistry lab and from the moment she laid eyes on him, Laura knew Robert was different. A stunning smile and strong faith were all it took. After officially asking her to his formal, Robert and Laura became an item.
Fast forward after graduation and they had some decisions to make. Robert was going overseas for mission work and Laura was moving to North Carolina to continue her education. Down by the river in Knoxville at the couple’s beloved spot, the two were on a nearby swing. Before she knew it, Robert was down on one knee while their families were hiding, waiting to surprise them. She said “yes” and they planned for a winter wedding in North Carolina.
With a brain wired for science, Laura was excited to enlist the help of a planner to design her big day. The formal affair took place at First Presbyterian Church of Highlands with a beaming reception at The Farm at Old Edwards Inn.
The color palette was clean and radiant with cream, white, and gray, along with the natural touch of greenery.
Laura shined on her wedding day in a stunning sheath gown with a V-neck, cap sleeves, and a floral beaded belt. She donned a long, gorgeous veil and paired her half-up hairstyle with statement earrings. Because orchids are the bride’s favorite flower, her bouquet overflowed with the white blooms, which were also front and center at the reception.

Robert was equally classic in a dark blue tuxedo, complete with a unique bow tie and cummerbund. His groomsmen matched and all wore orchid boutonnieres.
With a gorgeous group of bridesmaids in light blue cap-sleeve dresses leading her in, along with a bagpipe filling the sanctuary with sound, Laura walked down the aisle of the church to her awaiting Robert. Together, the two exchanged vows, laughed, and cried as they made their promises to one another.
After the ceremony, the couple and their bridal party took group photos. With characteristic holiday wreaths on the doors, Laura embraced the season with a fur stole for the outdoor photos.
The reception was a truly elegant affair. A five-tier white cake displayed an impressive cascade of orchids.
Wooden tables were accompanied with stunning chairs and couches. Table décor included lanterns, tall floral arrangements, generous candles, and ornate trays and vases.
After celebrating all evening with their guests, Laura and Robert were excited to make a grand exit. With loved ones on both sides, she took his arm and they made their way out through a tunnel of sparklers – grinning ear to ear.
After a dazzling wedding day, the chemistry between these two will continue for years to come!
