Ashley Alexander House Wedding
Ashley Alexander House Wedding. Many romantic movies have the chance meeting. The man and woman just happen to bump into each other and several scenes later they fall in love. For Brent and Emily, this is not too far from how they first met. It is a fairy tale that culminated with their marriage in Scott, Arkansas. It was 2012. They were both tenants in the same apartment complex in Peoria, Illinois. When she was moving in, Brent offered to help Emily with her belongings. She politely declined the offer but her Arkansas accent betrayed her. Since Brent is a North Carolina native, he was immediately drawn to her and asked her out on a date. Sometimes a simple gesture can result in a love connection.
Emily and Brent wanted their wedding to celebrate their southern roots. This was very important. They selected Ashely-Alexander Plantation which absolutely set the tone for their nuptials. This venue was originally constructed in 1835 and is listed on the historic registry. The lush landscape adorned with magnolia trees created the perfect atmosphere.
This wedding was truly a family event. Emily and her family constructed 12 foot farm tables for the guests. They wanted it to be less formal and wanted everyone to be able to interact. They had other DIY elements to their nuptials such as the chalkboard message that welcomed the guests, the floral centerpieces as well as the runners on the tables. Whenever you include things made by hand, it automatically makes the affair more laid back and relaxed.
But they had more than one theme on their wedding day. The attire of the bridal party helped to convey the secondary theme of the day. Emily looked like a southern belle. Her gown made of organza draped off her shoulders. We really loved the way the skirt flowed. Her bridesmaids wore long red gowns.
The groom and groomsmen wore gray suits with red bow ties. Their boutonnieres were also red. Besides the country feel, they also used this color throughout their day.
The wedding cake was three tiers and they used strawberries as accents. It was a creative way to decorate the cake using their color of choice.
Your wedding is your big day. It should reflect your vision for your wedding. If you are creative, you can easily make your dream come to life just like Emily and Brent.
