Johns Island Wedding

Johns Island Wedding - Casey & Aaron. The inspiration for their wedding day was the city where it all began – Charleston. They found Fenwick Hall to be the picturesque location of their dreams with its century-old oaks with hanging Spanish moss lining the long drive. Casey’s father played a pivotal role in the look of the big day as he is a floral design expert. They decided upon a color palette of steel blue, rose, maroon, and gold to highlight the fall season.

The bride was radiant in a modern sweetheart ball gown with a unique skirt and back. Her hair was styled in a chic updo and her accessories included glamorous gold wedges, statement earrings, and of course, a long veil.

Her bridesmaids were a standout group of ladies in blue dresses with off-the-shoulder straps and long silhouettes.

Aaron and his groomsmen matched with dark gray suits and brown shoes. While Aaron’s tie was white, his best guys wore blue.

Casey’s bouquet was filled with an array of blooms such as various pink and white garden roses, pink ranunculus, white dahlias, blue thistle, golden crespedia, and much more. And the collections were tied with marron and rose ribbons for a pop of color.

To say that the flowers were a key element to this wedding is an understatement. Casey’s dad and his team created breathtaking arrangements that incorporated the color palette impeccably.

With dark wooden chairs and swags of greenery lining the aisle, Casey was ready to walk down to her groom.

An arbor fashioned with colorful florals mimicked the look of the hanging Spanish moss and was anchored with silver lanterns.

It was here that Casey and Aaron held hands and pledged their vows to one another in front of family and friends. And while the weather was especially dreary leading up to the big day, as they made their promises, a beam of sunlight broke through the trees onto the gathering – a moment they recall as God’s presence over their union.

As they made their exit, Casey couldn’t help but laugh at Aaron’s reaction of swatting at the shower of rose petals, not realizing they were supposed to be thrown at the couple as they left.

They celebrated with guests outdoors under a beautiful tent that teemed with color, flowers, and love. They cut a beautiful white cake in front of a grand personalized rose wall and danced the night away with friends and family.

The charming and quintessential Southern ambiance of Fenwick Hall Plantation flourishes with low-country elegance. And one could say the same about the love story of Casey and Aaron.

Their proposal:

Casey and Aaron met in high school at a summer program they were both attending. After an evening spent talking and walking about the campus of College of Charleston, the two were smitten. And while their connection burned bright during the summer months, at the end of the season they both had to head back to their respective high schools.

They dated long distance and attended separate universities but the mileage never waned on their relationship. These two were in it for the long haul. Fast forward to post-college and Aaron was ready to propose. He secured the blessing of Casey’s father and had the perfect proposal in mind. He picked Casey up for church and the two drove into downtown Greenville to Falls Park. It was there they found a bench similar to the one they shared their first conversation on many years ago and Aaron recited a letter he’d written to Casey. He got down on one knee and Casey gave him a confident “yes.”
