Hurricane Irma caused last-minute changes to Karissa and Jayson’s destination nuptials but one would never know by their dreamy wedding day in Sanibel, Fla. When Irma barreled down on Captiva Island – their original wedding location – the couple took the change in stride, determined to create a colorful and memorable wedding day that was simply perfect at Sundial Resort.
Jayson first met Karissa when she worked at the hair salon he frequented. After several haircuts in a short amount of time, Karissa agreed to go out with him. And since Jayson lived on a boat, much of their relationship was spent near the water. So, when it came time to plan their big day, the nautical inspiration set the wheels – or rudders – in motion.
It was a gorgeous, sunny day in Florida for Jayson and Karissa. She got ready the morning of the wedding with her best girls by her side.
And her mom, who walked her down the aisle and wore a matching blue ring for the bride's "something blue," helped her slip into her dream wedding gown.
Her look included a fit-and-flare gown complete with lace and sheer details. To capture the beachy vibe, her hair was styled in a braided updo and adorned with a beaded headpiece and dainty floral touches.
Jayson channeled a formal beach vibe with his pink tie, white vest, and navy blue jacket.
During their first look before the ceremony, Jayson and Karissa were surrounded by verdant greenery and abundant sunshine as they locked eyes on their beloved.
Karissa’s bridesmaids all wore long blush dresses with their personal choice of neckline. Their pink rose bouquets served as a cohesive element for the lovely group.
Jayson’s handsome groomsmen went sans jackets and wore khaki-colored vests and pants with pink ties – perfect for the beach.
Guests were greeted at the beach by a hand-painted sign as they found their way to the ceremony spot.
Rows of white chairs beckoned guests to their seats in front of a simple floral and fabric-draped arbor. With the crystal blue waters out front and the blue sky above, the day couldn’t have been more picturesque.
The couple’s beloved family pup served as flower girl and raced down the aisle to Jayson. Karissa greeted Jayson under the arbor, where they exchanged vows in front of their family and friends.
After the ceremony, Jayson and Karissa took photos on the beach, quite literally walking off into the sunset.
This destination wedding at Sundial Resort proves that you can handle even the biggest planning hiccups with grace and resilience. Even if plans change, just like they did for Jayson and Karissa, you can still have your dream wedding. Love conquers all – even hurricanes!
