Poppy and Blush Engagement Session

Poppy and Blush Engagement Session. Opposites certainly attract. Sophia is an artist; Tom is an athlete. She likes the shade; he enjoys the sun. The bride is from the country; the groom is a city boy at heart. Although their differences are evident, it was clear early on that an attraction was imminent between Tom and Sophia. Much of their love story centers on a famed bridge near Sophia's hometown and college in Indiana. Tradition states that if you kiss a person under a full moon on the bridge, you'll eventually marry. Of course, Sophia kept with tradition and eventually, the two found themselves in the throes of an engagement. To emulate that same romantic location, their engagement shoot took place in Griffith Park near Los Angeles.

This styled shoot had many personal touches that were dear to the couple's heart. To start, a table for two was created in a quiet corner of the park. The wooden table was covered with a sheer lace fabric runner. In the middle was a hearty collection of sweets and flowers, anchored by the height of tall candles.

The flower arrangements were crafted with deep reds purples and greens. Hydrangea, roses, dahlias, and red poppies burst with lively color at the table's center. Two beautiful high back chairs were placed on each side for the bride and groom.

Each place setting included a pastry, garnished with berries and flowers. Vintage plates and silverware accompanied the dish for a Regency-era feel.

Tom looks cool and comfortable in a gray jacket, light blue button down shirt and dark denim jeans. His lovely bride looks classy in a gray pencil skirt, cream-colored blouse and black shoes. Her dark curls are pinned up in a casual but chic way.

It was actually quite chilly during the session so Sophia borrowed Tom's coat to keep warm. Of course, she had the look of love across the table while she wore it.

Their vintage-inspired rings definitely set the tone for the day. Antique and timeless, this elegant photo captures the couple's spirited approach to their relationship.

Peeking through the leaves, Tom grabs ahold of and embraces Sophia as she is seated on a tree stump. They look natural and not the slightest bit uneasy posing for the camera, an all too important quality for engagement photo sessions.

Tom is an avid cyclist so the couple incorporated this passion into their session, as well. A beautiful vintage bicycle built for two was graced with a wicker basket outfitted in flowers and filled with treats, like mini pies, that the bride made herself!

They pedaled through the park together in unison, taking in the scenery and the solitude. Even though they are quite different individually, these shots truly highlight their synchronicity as a couple.

Tom and Sophia stop for a moment and the photographer captures a few more intimate photos. Sophia accessorized with a few sprigs of purple flowers to grace her dark curls. She looked peaceful and angelic.

Clad in boots walking hand-in-hand, Tom and Sophia say good evening to their session. She is seen wearing his jacket from earlier, holding a basket full of flowers.

There is something appealing and admirable about an engagement session that makes you feel like you know the couple. This shoot was not only incredibly beautiful, but also telling of what kind of story these two share. When it comes to loving one another, Tom and Sophia are exactly in-tune.
