Twickenham House Jefferson Wedding
"They rented out the Twickenham House in Jefferson, North Carolina, for four days, three for their friends to enjoy and the fourth to host their wedding. Their ceremony took place outside, overlooking the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains." Rebekah and John have shared the journey of a lifetime, even before getting married. The two first met in high school. Since their families had moved to the Middle East for work, high school for them happened to be in Kuwait. After they started dating, Rebekah moved again and finished her senior year in Abu Dhabi. The distance didn’t phase them and eventually they found themselves back in the United States attending college in Texas.
Since Rebekah and John’s families are from North Carolina and Louisiana respectively, they wanted their wedding to reflect the unique history of their relationship, as well as their proud Southern roots.
Rebekah wore a strapless beaded drop-waist gown with a dramatic ruffled skirt and a lace-hemmed Cathedral-length veil. Pink stilettos and pearls were her accessories of choice. Her handsome groom, who serves as 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army, wore his traditional military uniform.
A modest wedding party gathered as Rebekah made her way down the aisle, which was flanked with large flower arrangements and small nosegays on each chair.
At the top of the altar was a simple wooden cross marking the spot where Rebekah and John would say their “I dos.”
Their reception featured mementos from all facets of their lives. From the Polish pottery Rebekah’s parents collected while she was a child in Germany to the Dallah, or Arabic coffee pot, which has special significance to both families, small touches served much significance in their reception.
The entire scene was set around gorgeous reception tables. Every piece of dinnerware was vintage and different and no two were alike. The couple rented antique chairs, sofas, and chandeliers to round out the Southern European experience.
Their menu included Southern cuisine, including apple pie, along with European and Middle Eastern fare. They also served French-inspired pastries and macaroons.
Their cake was a showstopper. A white tier with a black fondant ribbon held up a gold middle layer and fluttery top layer with a beautiful silhouette cake topper.
