Wedding Inspiration at The Cordelle

One might not first consider Edgar Allen Poe to be a source of inspiration behind a wedding styled shoot. However, this black and gold concept at The Cordelle in Nashville is a gorgeous interpretation of the venue’s namesake, which means “twisted cord” and the poet’s dark, but beautiful art. How creatively designed is this unique invitation suite? The gold crinkle-style parchment mirrors with the minor details on the invitation and reply card. And to bring it all together, the pieces are housed in black envelopes with gold script.

The aged appearance of the interior of the venue makes the new details pop even more. A dress, with an ombre-like sparkle effect from top to bottom, hangs noticeably from a large floor-length mirror.

A gold velvet chair sits in the corner for a bright pop of color. The addition of this golden hue, in place of a metallic, is clever.

A bride wears a gown with an unexpected keyhole back. The romantic addition of greenery in her long braid is representative of the desired twisted chord quality.

She holds a bouquet full of color and texture, most notably from hearty selections of greenery.

For a modern touch, this bride wears a vintage-inspired black gown with lace around the shoulders and neckline.

The tablescape is raw and interesting. Linen napkins are placed under the white dinner plates. Hand-torn pieces of black paper serve as the place cards, while small touches of greenery add a natural element. Gold flatware, a thin table runner, and ample candlelight lift the ambiance.

The white ceiling is strung with delicate lights for added warmth. With the wooden floors, table, and chairs, the whitewashed walls and extra lighting amp up the radiance.

A truly modern bridal look is this champagne-colored dress. The confident style features a deep V-neck, cutouts on the side, and a crisscrossed design on the back.

The bride adds a classic touch with a long white veil as a reminder that there’s still beauty in the traditional things.

This black and gold shoot isn’t about being bold; it’s about taking a bold concept and turning it on its side. The amorous and graceful nature of the design is awe-inspiring and surprisingly, gentle. It’s a look we certainly wouldn’t mind getting tangled up in.
