Dining

LaPlaya has opted for quality over quantity. Rather than have several eating and drinking concepts spread around the property, the resort has gone all-in with its signature restaurant, BALEENnaples, which quite simply is one of the top fine dining spots in a destination known for culinary excellence. Located adjacent to the resort’s private beach, BALEENnaples offers an experience no other Naples waterfront resort can: toes-in-the-sand dining at select tables on the beach. Guests can also opt for the elegant terrace or the soothing ambiance of the spacious interior dining room. Diners will enjoy traditional selections with a classy coastal twist, including fresh Florida seafood, terrific steaks, and imaginative appetizers. BALEEN’s wine collection, more than a thousand bottles strong, features selections from around the world (and has earned “two glasses” from Wine Spectator since 2011).

Spa

The 4,500-square-foot, indoor/outdoor SpaTerre is a world unto itself. The spa’s menu of massages ranges from the traditional Swedish to the exotic Ancient Earth Clay Wrap. SpaTerre also offers a full-service salon, facials, wraps and other age-defying treatments. Guests can book a personal room with a private balcony and ask their masseuse to open a sliding glass door and let in balmy Gulf breezes. Afterward, they can have a shower or a soak in a traditional Japanese Relaxation Tub.

Golf

Resort guests can enjoy the LaPlaya Golf Club, which features an 18-hole, links-style course designed by renowned architect Bob Cupp that is at once a challenge and a scenic marvel. Engulfed in vibrant foliage, including 3,000 stately palm trees, laced with pretty (but tricky) water hazards, and undulating fairways not frequently seen in Florida, LaPlaya Golf Club offers a wholly unique golf experience. Private and group instruction is available, and members can take advantage of reciprocal play at featured courses throughout Naples. For a 19th hole stop, the Clubhouse features old-world Florida decor graced by a wrap-around veranda.

Pools/Beach

LaPlaya understands that pool lounging is an important facet of a luxury Florida stay. The resort features four swimming pools — including one, Tranquility, that’s adult-exclusive — waterfalls and a whirlpool. Seventeen cabanas come compete with sofas, fans and cocktail tables. Beach butlers attend to guest’s every need. The nearby Tiki Bar offers a respite from the sun and, of course, a luscious drink menu and light bites. Vanderbilt Beach though public is very private, as the resort is surrounded by private residences and not public beach access ramps.
