The Gardens at Gray Gables NC Wedding
The Gardens at Gray Gables wedding. Sometimes in the midst of tragedy, surrounding yourself with love can be the greatest antidote. About a month before their big day, Drew and Amanda lost not only a groomsman, but one of their closest and dearest friends in a terrible accident while another friend, and groomsman, was injured. The loss was devastating. But they summoned the strength to look beyond the pain and honor their friend during the sweetest day of their lives.
The Gardens at Gray Gables in Summerfield, North Carolina, is every bit as picturesque as it sounds. Amanda and her bridesmaids got ready in the Stantliff Cottage. For her big day, Amanda chose an ethereal and classic look. Her shoes were nude ankle-strap heels with darling bow accents. Her dress was a classic A-line with a lace overlay that featured a meandering beaded design and shear three-quarter length sleeves. She capped the look with a sleek but low hairstyle and veil.
Bridesmaids were dressed in coral red in various styles with short hems and nude heels. While the bride carried a classic white bouquet with calla lilies, each bridesmaid had a flower-adorned lantern; however, there was one consistent element.
Each bouquet carried down the aisle had the initials “JP†in honor of their late friend.
Drew and his groomsmen looked sharp in dark navy blue suits and ties in the same coral red as the bridesmaids. They accessorized with brown shoes and small boutonnieres of berries with a Boston Red Sox pin.
Signage for the wedding was handmade and directed guests where to go and the order of events.
Guests were seated on the grass lawn in white chairs with stephanotis and lace bow decorations.
Amanda's smile could not have been brighter as she walked down the aisle to greet Drew.
In front of a large white arbor on the property, Drew and Amanda said I do and shared their first kiss as husband and wife. They couldn't have been more excited.
After the ceremony, they paused for photos with their bridal party as well as a few shots alone.
The venue has many areas that serve as beautiful backdrops, including tall evergreens and the gorgeous whitewashed exterior of the Brittain House.
Guests found their seats with a handmade display of place cards.
Each table was dressed with a navy blue tablecloth, a large lantern or vase with accompanying flowers and patterned table numbers.
The cake was a most adorable addition to the reception. It was four tiers of casually frosted buttercream and the cake topper consisted of a wooden bride and groom and a personalized blue banner above them.
The couple dined and danced under a tent beaming in string lights. At one point, they noticed their injured friend was dancing with his crutches; a moment they appreciated and relished.
Getting married is one of the greatest joys in a couple's life together. Even though Drew and Amanda had to face their day without their loved one, they smiled knowing his spirit was all around them, counting their blessings for such amazing friends and family to be present on such a beautiful day.
